Terms of Use
These terms cover your use of ZoneTiles: the website zonetiles.com and the ZoneTiles apps for Chrome, macOS, Windows and Linux. ZoneTiles (“we”) is an independent project. By using ZoneTiles you agree to these terms. They are short, so please read them.
1. ZoneTiles is free
ZoneTiles is free to use, for personal and work purposes. There are no accounts, subscriptions or ads.
2. Check important times
ZoneTiles shows times using the time-zone rules in your device, browser or app. Governments sometimes change time zones and daylight-saving rules at short notice, and those changes can take time to reach every device. For anything important (a flight, a deadline, a legal or medical appointment), double-check the time with the people involved or an official source. We work hard to make ZoneTiles accurate, but we can’t promise it is always right.
3. Use it fairly
Please don’t:
- use ZoneTiles to break the law or to harm others;
- try to disrupt, overload or break into zonetiles.com or our services;
- copy the ZoneTiles name, logo or look to pass off another product as ZoneTiles;
- sell ZoneTiles or charge others for it, unless the software licence published with ZoneTiles allows it.
4. Your data
What we collect, and why, is explained in the Privacy Policy. Your cities, tags and settings stay on your device (in the Chrome extension, also in your own Chrome sync).
The Chrome extension collects nothing and sends nothing; see “The ZoneTiles Chrome extension” in the Privacy Policy.
5. The name, logo and content
The ZoneTiles name, logo, website design and text belong to ZoneTiles. The software is available under the licence published with it. The city data is used under the licence described in Credits and licences below.
6. Downloads and app stores
Use only the official downloads from zonetiles.com, the Chrome Web Store, the Microsoft Store or Flathub. When you get ZoneTiles from a store, that store’s own terms also apply to the download.
7. No warranty
ZoneTiles is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We don’t guarantee that it will be error-free, always available, or that the times shown are always correct.
8. Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage caused by using, or not being able to use, ZoneTiles. That includes missed meetings, missed travel, or lost business. Because ZoneTiles is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 0, or the smallest amount the law where you live allows. Nothing in these terms limits rights that the law says cannot be limited.
9. Changes and ending
We may change or stop ZoneTiles, or update these terms. If you keep using ZoneTiles after a change, you accept the new terms. You can stop using ZoneTiles at any time by deleting the app or simply not visiting the website.
10. Law
Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law where you live gives you and that cannot be changed by agreement.

Credits and licences
City data: ZoneTiles’ city list is based on data from GeoNames (https://www.geonames.org), licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). What we changed: we use cities with 15,000 or more people, selected and corrected some names, added search spellings and translated names, and combined the data with each place’s time zone. The changed data is used in ZoneTiles under the same licence.
Time-zone rules: time zones come from the IANA Time Zone Database (public domain), provided by your operating system, your browser, or the app.
Open-source software: ZoneTiles is built with open-source components. Their licences are listed with each app.
