Privacy Policy
ZoneTiles is a free time-zone viewer for the web, Chrome, macOS, Windows and Linux. We keep this short: here is what we collect and why.
In short
- No account. Your cities, tags and settings stay on your device.
- Anonymous statistics. We count visits and how features are used, and collect crash reports, so we can improve ZoneTiles.
- No personal data. We never collect your name, email, IP address, the names in your tags, or anything you type or copy.
- No ads, no selling. We never sell your data or share it with advertisers.
What we collect
When you use the ZoneTiles website or the Mac app, we collect anonymous usage statistics (the apps for Chrome, Windows and Linux collect nothing today; if that changes, we will update this page first):
- the pages you visit and the features you use (for example, adding a city or copying a time)
- your approximate location (country and city), worked out without storing your IP address
- your device type, browser or operating system, and language
- crash and error reports
The Mac app also asks zonetiles.com once a day whether there is an update.
This is always on, because it is how we keep ZoneTiles working and decide what to build next. It cannot be used to identify you, and it is always sent over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
Cookies
The website uses one anonymous analytics cookie, so we can count unique and returning visitors, and a lang cookie
if you choose a language. If you are in the European Union, the UK or Switzerland, we ask before setting the
analytics cookie; if you say no, your visit is still counted, but without a cookie.
The ZoneTiles Chrome extension
The Chrome extension collects no personal or sensitive data and sends nothing to us. It saves your cities and settings
in Chrome’s own storage (synced through your Google account if Chrome sync is on), uses the storage permission for
that and the sidePanel permission to open in Chrome’s side panel, and reads no websites. Its use of information
complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy,
including the Limited Use requirements.
Services we use
PostHog (statistics, EU), Sentry (crash reports, EU) and Cloudflare (hosting). They process data only for us.
Children
ZoneTiles is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update this page.
